Chapter 6

M y phone was buzzing on the counter as I made breakfast for me and Alyssa. She was flying back to Atlanta in a couple of hours, and I made the decision to go with her. I needed a break from Hawaii. Well Kamaria, honestly.

She took me to a level of anger I hadn’t experienced with a woman before. Speak of the devil, and he’ll show up every time. It crossed my mind to ignore the call, but I decided against it.

“What’s up?” I asked nonchalantly.

“I’m just calling to apologize for my actions. You are a great man, and it was never my intention to hurt you. I only saw things my way and that was selfish of me. I understand if you never want to hear from me again after this, but I had to let you know how I felt.”

I had to look at the phone to be sure that I was talking to the right person. I couldn’t believe the words that were coming out of her mouth. In no way did I believe this girl had changed in just a week, but I accepted her apology anyway and hung up. It was what it was at this point. As far as I’m concerned, there was nothing else for us to talk about.
